A 17mm lens therefore serves a roughly normal perspective here. If you need to show a presenter and much of a small room, choose by the required framing rather than a lens maker’s “wide-angle” description for another sensor format. A 25mm or 35mm lens makes a much tighter starting point.
These calculations do not change the lens’s actual focal length or exposure aperture. They also do not predict fisheye rendering: a fisheye’s curved projection cannot be judged as if it were an ordinary wide-angle prime. Aspect ratio and the final stabilization crop can further affect the delivered frame.
HyperSmooth needs its own compatibility check
